The Chosen

The forsaken, or the Chosen as they call themselves, are originally thirteen of the strongest channellers in the Age of Legends who turned to the Dark One. Their names are still used to frighten small children with.

Some people says they where imprisoned together with the Dark One in the moment of the creation by the Creator himself. This is just one of the things that has been twisted by time and most of the now living Randlanders holds for fact.

Aginor

Helped the Dark One to create the different species of shadowspawn. The other forsaken thought he was mad. His face looked as made out of leather, pulled tightly over his skull, due that he was close to the wheel when imprisoned (EotW pb 748). He matched Lews Therin in the Hall of Servants, stroke by stroke. When his cord to the Dark One pulsed, he grew stronger and got more flesh into his decayed body. (EotW pb 755) Reincarnated as Osan'gar by the Dark One.

Asmodean

Real name Joar Addam Nesossin (TSR pb 978). Dark-haired. Stilled his own mother in AoL . Was a famous musician before going over to the Dark. Severed from his tie to the Dark One by Rand (TSR pb 970). Said to be weakest of the forsaken and deep within a coward. Made the dragons on Couladin's wrists. Taught Rand to use the One Power after he had become shielded by Lanfear (TSR pb 973 and whole TFoH). Dead (TFoH pb 961), but according to a loony theory he could be the one who Moridin has in his second mindtrap.

Balthamel

A womanizer who was killed by Someshta but killed the Nym at the same time (EotW pb 751). At that time he hid his face behind a carapace worked into a laughing face of a young man. The time while he was imprisoned had made his tounge useless. (EotW pb 748) Reincarnated in a woman body, new name is Aran'gar/Halima Saranov.

Be'lal

Tall with white hair. Called Netweaver by Ogier (TDR pb 600). Used the sport swords and with Lews Therin learned to kill with it (tDR pb 649). Envied Lews Therin, Lanfear and Ishamael (TDR pb 600). Called himself High Lord Samon. Killed by Moiraine with balefire. (tDR pb 652)

Ishamael

Real name Elan Morin Tedronai. Humbled in the Hall of Servants and defeated at the Gates of Paaran Disen by Lews Therin (EotW prologue). Was once a great philosopher and theologian. Used the name Ba'alzamon under which he made the world believe he was the Dark One himself (tDR pb 237). Became insane, and was the only forsaken not entirely sealed in with the Dark One (EoTW pb 748). The strongest of the forsaken. The one who made Artur Hawkwing send his son over the sea, and thus created the Seanchan. One of a few who used the True Power from the Dark One (EotW Prologue). Believed to be dead by both sides, after Rand plunged his body with Callandor (tDR pb 666). Could be reincarnated as Moridin.

Lanfear

Egwene saw her transport Rand, Loial and Hurin to the Mirror World in her first Dream. (tGH pb 213) Dressed all in white, with a belt and boots in silver. Tall, beautiful, ivory-pale skin, dark eyes and long black hair. Rand thought she was about Nynaeve's age. Called herself Selene (tGH pb 252) She tried to get Rand to blow the horn, but she leaves as they enter populated areas.

Rahvin

Tall, dark haired, with white in his hair (TDR pb 540). Likes to use women as toys (TFoH pb 280). Used the name Gaebril in Caemlyn (TDR 540 and TfoH pb 174) and calls himself king when Morgase escapes from his clutch (TFoH pb 863). Killed by Rand's balefire in T'A'R' (TFoH pb 947).
